What’s Britney Spears’ Net Worth? How The Pop Star Makes Millions

Britney Spears is finally doing things her own way these days. After 13 years, the pop star’s restrictive conservatorship finally ended almost two years ago, in November of 2021, allowing Britney the freedom to dictate what she does and when she does it. And this pop star has certainly been busy. From marrying settling into her new post-conservatorship life, to dropping her first new music since 2016, Brit’s not slowing down any time soon.

The 41-year-old singer is one of the most successful pop stars of all time. I mean, she even has a Broadway show inspired by her robust discography. Unfortunately, she’s had more than a few bumps along her road to fame, as fans saw in the documentary, Framing Britney Spears. As of late, news just dropped that Britney’s husband of 14 months, Sam Asghari, has filed for divorce.

With Britney’s racked up chart-toppers, also comes her padded her bank account. All those hits and brand deals add up to an “Outrageous” net worth. She took her own “Work Bitch” lyrics to heart and earned more than $30 million a year in eight of the last 20 years, Forbes reported in 2020.

But for a long time, the money wasn’t hers to spend—her father and lawyer oversaw her finances as part of her court-approved conservatorship. That all changed a few years ago, and Brit’s been able to spend that dough how she wants.

Here’s exactly how she’s made all her money over the years and how she likes to spend it.

She has a prenup.

Don’t worry. Brit signed an “ironclad” prenup, according to TMZ, which allows her to keep her entire fortune if things went south Sam Asghari. Unfortunately, it looks like the couple recently filed for divorce, according to the Associated Press. A source close to Asghari stated that the filing occurred last Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

The couple had been married for around 14 months, and together for nearly seven years. Sam is apparently “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup,” according to Page Six, and has allegedly threatened to release “extraordinarily embarrassing information” about Britney is his negotiations are not met.

Attorney Mathew Rosengart, who assisted in freeing Britney from her 13-year conservatorship, was apparently involved in spelling out the terms of the couple’s prenuptial agreement, according to Page Six. The specifications of the agreement outline that Britney will keep all of the money she earned prior to the couple’s marriage (which, is quite a bit of it).

Sam was allotted around $1 million for every two years of marriage, per US Weekly. Since they have only been married for a little over a year, it doesn’t look like Sam will qualify for that sum of cash. Moreover, Sam has no claims over the “Circus” singer’s music catalog, and is not listed on the deed of their home. The couple put their home into a limited liability company, or LLC.

Britney earned millions on her albums.

Her debut album, “…Baby One More Time,” sold a whopping 10.6 million copies in the U.S., per Billboard. It was far from the last, and Britney did it again, just as she predicted.

In fact, her first two albums were so successful she earned almost $10 million in advance for her third, “In the Zone.” The rest, “Britney,” “Blackout,” “Circus,” “Femme Fatale,” “Britney Jean,” and “Glory,” only racked up more sales.

Britney is the fourth best-selling artist in the U.S. according to Nielsen tracking. She has sold nearly 150 million records worldwide, according to Billboard.

She’s releasing a memoir.

Yeah. Brit can do it all. In July, the superstar announced she is releasing a memoir in October 2023 titled The Woman In Me. Upon her announcement, the book immediately shot to a bestseller on Amazon.

It’s unclear exactly how much the singer is earning off of her book sales, but Variety reported that the book deal agreement was “record-breaking” and earned Britney around $15 million.

Britney’s world tours have been even more lucrative.

She has headlined 10 concert tours throughout her career. Her most recent, 2018’s Piece of Me Tour, grossed an estimated $54.6 million.

Britney cashed in on her Vegas residency.

Britney started a four-year residency in 2013. The gig earned her around $400,000 per night, according to The Daily Mail. When she left, she had earned more than $140 million in revenue. Her final performance alone brought in $1.1 million, which is a record for a single theater Las Vegas residency show.

Britney was set to start a new Las Vegas residency, “Domination,” at a $507,000-a-concert rate. However, she put it on hold due to her father’s health issues, and never occurred.

Her fans pay for all the Britney merch and perfumes.

Britney’s Army is doing more than buying music and concert tickets. Her website sells everything from shirts with Britney’s image to wine glasses with “sip me baby one more time” engraved.

Britney also has a billion-dollar collection of perfumes. She launched Curious, her first perfume, for $39.95 in 2004. Elizabeth Arden paid Britney $52 million for it, per Hollywood Reporter, and it was a hit. By 2013, over 500 million bottles of Curious had sold. Many more soon followed,

Britney has pretty high expenses.

As of 2020, about 25 percent of her gross income was going to her team (think agents, managers, and lawyers) and at least 40 percent goes toward taxes. Britney was also paying about $500,000 in child support annually to her ex-husband Kevin Federline, per Forbes.

Her legal team says her dad got some of her earnings.

In January 2022, Britney’s legal team claimed Jamie Spears “enriched himself” by “taking more than $6 million from his daughter’s earnings,” per CNBC.

They also said Jamie “petitioned for fees to be paid to dozens of different law firms” to the tune of “more than $30 million.”

Jamie had been asking the court to force Brit to continue paying his legal fees after the conservatorship ended.

She bought a new house.

Britney and Sam signed paperwork for a new house together right after getting hitched. They dropped a cool $11.8 million on the pad, per TMZ. TKTKTK

Britney single with Elton John was a chart topper.

ICYMI, Brit dropped some new music last summer after six years of silence. Her new single with Elton John, “Hold Me Closer,” was a huge commercial success. The song debuted at No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the star’s 14th top-10 single. The accolade also meant Brit scored a top-ten single across four different decades. A true queen.

And it’s made a lot of dough, too. As of May 2023, the single had roughly 111,000 downloads and 124.6 million streams in the United States, per Billboard.

What’s her total net worth?

Thanks to her totally massive career, Britney’s various ventures, music deals, and appearances add up to a net worth of $70 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Britney wore 62 carats worth of diamonds for her big day that totaled an impressive $570,000, per Us Weekly.
